Grading During Closure

Grading During Closure
Posted on 05/11/2020

The purpose of grading during school closure is to provide students and parents feedback on student progress without harming students who may not have been able to participate. This means that a student’s grade in place at the time of school closure will remain the same or can improve by the end of the grading period. All missing work will be marked incomplete and will not be calculated in the overall grade. Late work rules are suspended because we know that parents and students share technology devices, and home schedules require greater flexibility.  Students may redo missing work or low quality work for higher scores to demonstrate they have learned the skills or content.

Teachers enter at least one new score per week in teacher gradebooks for ELA and mathematics for all grade levels, and teachers also enter at least one score per week in science and social studies in the 4th-8th grades.  Parents may log in at any time to ParentVue to check on student progress and completion of assignments.
