Liberty Elementary School District Athletics will be offered to 6-8 grade students beginning on October 12, 2020. Though Athletics will look a little different this year, we will still be offering the following sports:

Due to the condensed schedule and limited available coaches, the district will be implementing A and B teams in the following sports:
- Boys Basketball
- Girls Basketball
- Girls Volleyball
Both A and B teams may have 6-8 grade students participating. The A team would be the more competitive of the two teams while the B team will be structured to be instructional and developmental.
Eligibility Guidelines:
- Student Attendance - Student/Athletes must attend school for at least half of the school day to participate in practice or games
- Academic Expectations - Student/Athletes must demonstrate and maintain academic proficiency in accordance with Governing Board policy
- Eligibility/Grade checks will occur weekly on Wednesdays
- Student Athletes will failing grades will be deemed ineligible for that week
- Student Athletes with four ineligibility rulings in one season will disqualify them for the remainder of that season
- Preparticipation Physical for 2020-21 (insert link to the PDF) is required for all Student/Athletes prior to tryouts for any of the sports/seasons listed above
- Preparticipation Physical Exception: The AIA issued an addendum to AIA Bylaw 15.7.2.2 for 2020-2021
Summary: 15.7.2.2 Part Two – Annual Preparticipation Physical Examination – To be completed and signed by the examining medical provider. (See Form 15.7-B).
NOTE: The 2019-2020 sports physical shall be accepted for the 2020-2021 school year if the following criteria are met over the time period since the athletes 2019-2020 sports physical.
- Athlete has a 2019-2020 AIA sports physical on file with the school he/she is attending for 2020-2021.
- Athlete did not have any new injury or illness requiring outside medical evaluation or if injury did occur, was released for full athletic participation by a qualified medical professional
- Athlete did not have a concussion
- Athlete did not receive a new medical diagnosis
- Athlete has not had COVID -19
- Athlete must see his/her primary care provider and have an updated sports physical for 2020-2021 if any of the above criteria are not met.
- If an athlete does not have a 2019-2020 sports physical form on file at the school he/she is attending for the 2020-2021 school year, the athlete will also need to complete a 2020-2021 sports physical.2020-2021 Health History (15.7-A, page 3) is to be completed and signed by student and parent/guardian.
