PUBLIC FORUM
for Boundary Changes for August 2021

A public forum will be held on January 19th from 6-7PM. All interested community members are invited to listen and provide feedback on scenarios that will be proposed to the Governing Board. RSVP to cpeterson@liberty25.org. The January 19th Public Forum can be viewed hereIn order to view or participate in the Forum, the device being used must have Google Meets installed.

The LESD boundary committee reviewed options for attendance boundary changes that will impact families in the current Liberty Elementary School attendance area who live north of Yuma Road. Blue Horizon Elementary School is under construction and will open in August for kindergarten through 5th grade students. Major intersections are Tuthill Road and Yuma Road. The committee analyzed multiple scenarios for geographic areas for enrollment at Liberty Elementary and Blue Horizon Elementary.

Click here to view summaries of the Boundary Committee meetings. The meeting summaries include links to the slide decks with boundary options considered. The committee recommends Scenario C for Blue Horizon Elementary: north of Roosevelt Canal, east of Tuthill Rd, and west of Citrus Rd.

NEW HEALTH BENCHMARKS EXPAND OPPORTUNITY FOR IN-PERSON DELIVERY
Virtual Learning Continues After Winter Break

At the December 14th Governing Board meeting, the district's health benchmarks were revised to more closely align to Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) guidelines. The range for the Moderate threshold for Benchmark 2 - Percent Positivity was expanded to 5-10% positivity. The criteria for the district's overall benchmark threshold at the Minimal level continues to be two benchmarks at Minimal, and the overall threshold to meet the Substantial threshold is extended to three benchmarks at Substantial. Both the Maricopa County Public Health data set and the AZDHS data sets will be evaluated weekly to determine the district's health benchmark threshold. If a new threshold is reached for two consecutive weeks, then a change in delivery model will occur the following Monday. At the Minimal threshold, the delivery model will be traditional, allowing all students to return to school. At the Moderate threshold, some students will learn at home through the choice of Distance Learning or Online School, and some students will learn in person through the choice of In-Person Learning. At the Substantial threshold, the delivery model will be virtual delivery for all students. All Distance Learning and Online School options will continue through the end of the school year.
