The Liberty Elementary School District provides free, nutritious meals during the summer at four locations in the southwest Valley.

BUCKEYE, AZ, May 30, 2017 -- The Liberty Elementary School District is providing FREE, meals to children in low-income communities this summer. The Liberty Summer Food Program will be serving up these nutritious meals at four of its six elementary schools.

"Liberty School District is happy to provide free breakfast and lunch for anyone 18 and younger over the summer. For some families, it can be a huge struggle to fee students during this time. By partnering with USDA, Liberty ESD can provide some of the meals to these families," says Cindy Cabanilla, Liberty Elementary School District Food Services Director.

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is a federally funded child nutrition program established to ensure low-income children, ages 18 and younger, continue to have an opportunity to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session. These are FREE meals which meet federal nutrition guidelines and provided to all children at approved SFSP sites in the areas with significant concentrations of low-income children.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Child Nutrition Program funds the grant and provides direction, oversight and support to State Agencies
In Arizona, the Arizona Department of Education (ADE), Health and Nutrition Services division, directly administers the program
