Gifted Testing Referral Process & Testing Schedule

Gifted testing is offered three times per academic year.  Recommendation for testing may be made by a parent, teacher or administrator. All testing requires parent permission.  If you would like your child tested, please fill out the form provided on the link below.  Your child will be tested at his/her school during one of the three regular testing periods using the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) or the Naglieri.  Students may only test once per academic year.

GIFTED TESTING

In an effort to offer the best possible testing outcome, we will assess students over a three day period, at your child’s school, in a secure and quite testing environment.

It is strongly encouraged that your child attends all three days of testing.  We cannot guarantee that a proctor will be available to administer tests at a later time.

The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is a multiple-choice assessment that measures reasoning skills with different types of verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal (spatial reasoning) questions.

Each test battery consists of three sub-tests, designed to accurately measure how your child best learns. It is important that students answer all questions to accurately determine a score, even if they are unsure of the answer.  If as little as 3% of the questions are not answered a score may potentially be incalculable.

On testing day one, your child will begin with a tutorial called Getting Started.  This tutorial will teach your child how to use the simple online testing platform.  After the quick tutorial we will begin the Verbal test battery. On day two we will administer the Quantitative battery and on day three we will conclude with the Non-Verbal battery.
